A score of 1500 or above is considered strong for competitive universities. MIT, Caltech, and Harvard typically admit students with scores of 1550 and above. For Georgia Tech, UIUC, and Purdue, a score of 1400 to 1450 is competitive. Uplift tutors understand these benchmarks and build preparation around your child's target schools specifically.
The College Board moved to a fully digital SAT in 2024. It is shorter at 2 hours and 14 minutes and uses adaptive testing. The second module of each section adjusts in difficulty based on how your child performs in the first. Students who train on old paper SAT materials are not fully prepared for this format. Uplift Academy tutors train specifically for the digital SAT and adaptive module strategy.
Yes. Every student at Uplift Academy is assigned one dedicated SAT tutor at the start of preparation. That tutor runs the diagnostic, builds the plan, and stays with your child through to the exam date. We never rotate tutors or hand students over mid-preparation.
SAT prep courses follow a fixed syllabus for every student. Uplift starts with a diagnostic. We identify exactly which question types your child misses and build every session around those gaps. A student losing marks on SAT Math data analysis gets a very different plan from one weak on SAT Reading inference questions. That level of personalisation is something a course cannot give.
Uplift Academy begins SAT foundation preparation at Grade 6. For students in early grades, we build the reading, writing, and mathematical reasoning that the SAT measures. For students in Grade 10 or 11, we recommend starting at least 6 months before the target exam date. Most students take the SAT in Grade 11 and retake in Grade 12 if needed.
Most students take the SAT twice. Once in Grade 11 and once in the first half of Grade 12. Many universities superscore, meaning they take the highest section scores across all sittings. This makes a second attempt worthwhile if your child improves significantly in one section. Your Uplift tutor will help plan exam dates and retake timing based on your child's target schools and preparation progress.
